Anime “Houseki no Kuni” will be on air this October. Directed by Naohiko Kyogoku and character design by Asako Nishida!


Teaser visual with illustration of Phosphophyllite was unveiled

Popular manga by Haruko Ichikawa called “Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous)” serializing on Kodansha “Afternoon” was decided to be animated. It will be on air this October.


“Houseki no Kuni” is an action-fantasy comic based in the future, where creatures turned into immortal “Jewels” and fight against “Tsukijin”, enemies came from the moon.

 The comic is very popular and has achieved publishing more than million copies.

Teaser visual was announced in ahead of TV anime. Character appearing on the visual is the protagonist called Phosphophyllite, who is the youngest and very fragile jewel. The visual illustrates Phosphophyllite (Phos)’s mint-colored hair, beautifully reflecting and shining around.

 Furthermore, staffs’ information were also unveiled. Naohiko Kyogoku as director (“Love Live!”, “GATE: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri”), Toshiya Ono as series organizer (“Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga”) and Asako Nishida as character designer (“Love Live!”) will illustrate the anime!

 Animation work will be charged by Orange, the company which has made VFX scenes for “Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance” and “Macross Frontier The Movie”. Scenes such as dynamic and creative battles between jewels and Tsukijin will be illustrated with beautiful VFX.
