“Haikyū!! Concert 2017” Event Report has Arrived!

Reviewing famous scenes with live performance of 40 songs and animations

An official report has arrived from “Haikyū!! Concert 2017”, held at TOKYO INTERNATIONAL FORUM in February 26, 2017.

As soon as the conductor Satoru Takeuchi and special orchestra members have arrived, big handclaps were given. Special performances of background music which are made by Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana were performed with anime scenes and colorized the concert hall.

 First, scene from 3rd series “Haikyū!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy” was shown to audiences with one of the most popular song “Itadaki no Keshiki/ Haikyū!!”. Characters such as Hinata, Kageyama and members of Karasuno High School appeared on screen with exiting songs. The fusion of ‘edited video’ and ‘live performance’ has made a chemical reaction and shown to audiences as if they were music videos. The expectation of audiences to the concert has risen within the atmosphere and even some of the audiences were starting to cry.

Part 1 of the concert has reviewed from the first episode to Spring High match versus Wakutani South High School with songs “Saikyo no Otori” and “Kamiwaza Sokkou”. “Saikyo no Otori” was performed with a video of Hinata’s history and “Kamiwaza Sokkou” was performed with cellos to express the quick attacks of Hinata and Kageyama’s combination. The excitement has even risen to watch anime scenes with famous quotes, which appeared to audiences as if they were watching ‘a movie with live music performances’.

Part 2 of the concert was made with scenes from anime 2nd season and songs such as “Cho Sokkou”, “Kyokugen Switch” and “Makkou Shoubu” were performed. Aggressive sounds were performed with violin-solo, the sound of guitar expressed competitions of scores and heavy bass sounds of drums and basses blew audiences’ mind.

The last part ‘Goaisatsu’ started with performances of “Kessen Shoshinsha”, “Naguriai” and other songs which were imaged from fierce fighting of “Haikyū!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy”. The scene when Tsukishima blocked Ushijima’s attack was shown to audiences and the song “Tsuki no Wa” was performed with tensed and presence atmosphere. The climax song “Concept no Tatakai” started with famous quote of coach Ukai, saying “Don’t you dare look down! Volleyball is a sport where you’re always looking up!” This quote is also available to hear on soundtrack. The song “Concept no Tatakai” was performed with exciting scenes of anime. 

The opening theme for the 1st series “Imagination” was performed with specially arranged version which was only made for this event with the end credit roll. After the performance, musical composer Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana appeared on stage and biggest handclaps were given. Furthermore, an encore song “Haikyū!!” was performed and audiences were naturally beating time with their hands.

The concert ended in large success with powerful live performances and famous scenes from anime. Audiences desired of second performance, and appealed its expectation of future development.
